Self-adhesive, deformable band, based on butyl rubber with integrated geotextile

Description

COPSABAND 100 is a cold adhesive bandconsisting in a plasto-elastic sectiontransversely deformable and reinforced withgeotextile on one of its sides. COPSABAND100 has been designed for superficialdeformable sealing which adapts to complexgeometry and can be superficially coatedwith cement or polymers

Technical Data

Geotextile characteristics:

• Type: Not fabric.
• Material: 100% polyester.
• Density: 30 g/m².

Material character:

• Butyl poli isobutylene rubber.
• Complete thickness of sheet: 0.9 mm.
• Application temperature: 5 to 40 ºC.
• Service temperature: -30 to 80 ºC.

Features

• Total watertight and waterproof sealing.
• The product can be applied in vertical, horizontal surfaces and ceilings.
• High transversal deformation capacity, high capacity for fissure bridging.
• Easy to apply due to its self-adhesive capacity and its subsequent protective coating.
• Ample range of operational temperatures.
• Susceptible to adaptation to supports and different geometry.
• Can be coated by cementitious coatings, resins, waterproof materials and paints. Please, refer to the Technical Department for compatibility.

Application procedures

Surface preparation: The supports can be either mineral or metal. Whatever the support, it has to be mechanically resistant and free from irregularities. Two factors should beconsidered in the preparation of the surface:

• Total absence of dust, dirt and oils, tar, asphalt, etc. and in general, any anti-adherent substance.
• Absence of humidity.

The cleaning should be done using less aggressive systems which respect the flatness of the support. The irregularities should bepreviously eliminated using mortars of the PREREPAR and PREPOXY range

If the support is porous, a primer of the range COPSAFLOOR IMPRIMACIÓN is recommended.

Product application: Once the application support is in the appropriate conditions, one of the two protecting sheets of paper is removed taking special care to avoid air bags.This sheet is placed over the application zone and then pressed in order to obtain a good adherence. If overlapping is necessary, the two pieces overlap at a minimum of 5 cm.

In case of exterior application, the bands should be coated with COPSA cementitious products or polymers with a deformation capacity corresponding to the movement o COPSABAND 100.

In case of sealing in drinkable water or food storages, COPSABAND 100 must be covered with a cementitious, elastic and waterproof coating of PRELASTIC 500 range or COPSALASTIC 800. In case of tanks and aggressive chemical liquids storages, a coating with PREPOXY 600 or PREPOXY AL is necessary if the band is not deformed. Please, consult the chemical resistance of these materials or refer to the Technical Department for more information.

• Obstacles on roofs such as flow tubes, breastplates, chimneys, etc.
• Steel, concrete and prefabricated pipe joints.
• Exterior carpenter enclosures sealing.
• Flow tube perimeter sealing.
• Construction cracks and joints sealing in canals, storages, swimming pools, etc.
• Substitute of quirks where a wall and an overlapping meet.
• Pavement joints sealing..

Special precautions

• Avoid eye contact. Keep out of children‘s reach. The product is sensitive to solvents. The coatings should be compatible with the chemical properties of COPSABAND 100.
• Do not use COPSABAND 100 for sealing under negative pressure.
• Do not use COPSABAND 100 without any coating or protection.
• Empty packaging must be disposed of according to the local regulations.

Packaging

COPSABAND 100 is supplied in 10 m long rolls, 8.5 and 15 cm wide. Please, consult the Technical Department for other sizes.

Storage

The components should be stored in their original, unopened packaging, in dry places and protected from frost, heat or direct sunlight. The product has a shelf life of 12 months in its unopened packaging.
