Description

COPSALASTIC 800 is a one-component liquid polyurethane which cures at the ambience humidity resulting in a steady, resistant, elastic and highly long-lasting waterproof membrane.

As a waterproof system it could be applied to roofs, flat roofs, water storages, rafts, bathrooms, insulating polyurethane foams, etc. It adheres well to plenty of substrates such as concrete, ceramics, glass, steel and wood, preventing their deterioration.

Technical Data

  • Type: one-component polyurethane resin.
  • Colour: Grey and red. For other colours, please, consult our Technical Dept.
  • Density at 20 ºC: 1.59 kg/dm3.
  • Brookfield Viscosity, 20 rpm, 25 ºC: 4,000 - 5,000 cp.
  • Content of solids : 94%.
  • Elongation at 20 ºC: 600%.
  • Application temperature: 5 - 30 ºC.
  • Service temperature: - 30 to 90 ºC.
  • Repainting time (min): 6 - 12 hours.
  • Max. substrate humidity: 9%.
  • H.R. max: 90%.

Features

  • Good resistance to stagnant or condensed water.
  • Allows the passage of water vapour.
  • Allows the application of mortar and pavements above the resulting membrane.
  • Weatherproof. If the product is exposed to sunlight, it could become yellowish.
  • Impact and abrasion resistant.
  • High elasticity, even at low temperatures.
  • High chemical resistance.
  • Excellent crack bridging capacity.
  • Excellent resistance to alkaline hydrolysis, bases and diluted acids, etc.
  • Suitable for drinkable water.

Application procedure

Preparation of the surface: The support should be mechanically resistant. Two factors should be considered in the preparation of the surface:

  • Absolute absence of dust, dirt and oils.
  • Absence of humidity in the concrete.

Little cracks in the support or between walls, brick factories, etc., are treated prior to the application.

The cleaning should be done through grinding, scarifying or sandblasting, according to the support.

Priming: Priming could be required: COPSAFLOOR IMPRIMACIÓN CERÁMICA for ceramics finishes and very thin troweled cement; COPSAFLOOR IMPRIMACIÓN N for inconsistent or porous reinforcements or for constantly immersed applications. COPSALASTIC 800 will be applied when the primer is still sticky to the touch.

Application: Once a suitable support is obtained, mix the product for a minimum of 3 minutes to achieve a homogeneous mix which is then spread with a brush, a roller or a spray. In low-porous supports dilute the first coating with 15% of polyurethane dissolvent Copsa. Once the first coating is dry, a second coating is applied within a span of no more than two days. A reinforcement fabric could be included between the two layers, when the first one is still fresh.

Tools cleaning: The tools and utensils should be washed with COPSA solvent cleaner immediately after their use.

Recommended for

  • Roofs, terraces, balconies and covers, even low-traffic.
  • Water storages and irrigation canals.
  • Bridge platforms and foundations.
  • Metal or fibre cement thin roofs.
  • EPDM and asphalt membranes.
  • Bathrooms and wet areas.
  • Parking lots and stadiums.
  • Buried walls.

Special precautions

COPSALASTIC 800 should be handled with gloves and goggles. Avoid skin contact.

In case of eyes contact, wash immediately and thoroughly with water. In case of skin contact, wash thoroughly with water and soup. In case of inhalation, call a doctor. Do not provoke vomiting.

Do not use solvents different from the recommended. Do not exceed the recommended thickness of the layers. Under the UV rays the product can be bleached but this will not affect its properties.

This product is not suitable for waterproofing to backpressure.

Empty packaging must be eliminated according to the local environmental regulations.

Consumption

Two coatings of COPSALASTIC 800 require 1 to 1.5 kg/m2. This corresponds to about 0.6 to 1mm of thickness.

If higher thickness is required, it will be necessary to use COPSALASTIC 800 2C in an appropriate amount of 5% of COPSALASTIC 800.

Packaging

COPSALASTIC is supplied in packaging of 15 and 25 kg, in roof-tile colour and grey. If other colours are required, please, refer to our Technical Department.

Storage

The product has a shelf life of 12 months, at 25 ºC. Keep in its original unopened packaging.

Do not leave the container open and avoid any contact with water.

Once opened, it should be used immediately.
