Documento sin título

Description

PREFIX FLEX is a high performance thixotropic mortar with a high bonding power, formulated on the base of cement, selected aggregates, admixtures and a high amount of synthetic resins which improve its workability, water retention and adhesion . It is suitable for ceramic tiling in the exterior.

PREFIX FLEX is classified as a cementitious adhesive C2TES1 according to UNE/EN 12004.

Technical Data

  • Type: Cementitious adhesive type
    C2TES1according to UNE-EN 12004.
  • Aspect: Powder.
  • Color: Grey and white.
  • Density:
    In powder: 1.4 kg/dm3.
    In paste: 1.7 kg/dm3.
  • Open time (EN-1346): 30 min.
  • Adjustment time: 45 min.
  • Joining time: after 24 hours.
  • Tensile strength (EN 1348):
    Initial: >=1.
    Heat ageing: >=1.
    Water immersion: >=1.
    Freeze-thaw cycles: >=1.
  • Sliding: <0.5 mm.
  • Layer thickness: 3-10mm.

Features

  • Easy to use.
  • Excellent adhesion to low level absorption substrates.
  • Excellent degree of water retention.
  • High flexibility.
  • Thixotropic, class T.
  • Prolonged open time, class E.

Application procedure

Substrate preparation: The substrate must be sound, clean and free from dust, superficial laitance, loose particles or any other material which would prevent the adhesion. The substrate humidity must be lower than 3%.

PREFIX FLEX must be applied to cementitious substrates, concrete substrates or expanded clay blocks. Do not apply on plaster (use PREFIX PLASTER instead) without previously applying a PRELATEX 200 primer.

The surface must be leveled. Use a 2m ruler to minimize the level differences up to 5 mm. Holes and existing voids must be repaired at least 24 hours before the application using any of the PREREPAR range products.

Product placement: Mix 25 kg of PREFIX FLEX with water to obtain a uniform mixture without lumps. The mixing speed must be slow, lower than 400rpm. Leave the mixture to rest for 5 minutes before the application. Apply simple bonding (on the substrate) and double bonding (substrate and pieces to be
bonded) using a dented trowel. It is recommended to begin spreading the smooth part of the mortar first and then continue with the dented one. The percentage of the tile surface which gets in contact with the mortar must be higher than 80.

Before the application, check that the mortar has not formed a superficial film which would prevent the adhesion. Should that be the case, trowel the surface once again. Place the pieces pressing hard to flatten the grooves. Tiles larger than 900cm2 require a double bonding. Mechanic anchors are required if the tile floor is heavier than 40kg/m2. Allow a waiting time of at least 24 hours before performing the joining. The distances between the joints should be 1.5 mm on walls and 5 mm on floors.

Tools cleaning: Tools and application equipment are washed with water immediately after use. If the product hardens, it can only be removed by mechanical means.

Recommended for

  • Interior and exterior ceramic stoneware
    flooring (low absorption <0.5%).
  • Interior and exterior ceramic flooring
    using group I tiles (water absorption<3%).
  • Façade tiles should not be bigger than
    900cm2 , nor heavier than 40kg/m2.
    Should that be the case, mechanic anchors
    are required.
  • Suitable for cellular glass tiles.

Special precautions

PREFIX FLEX is a cementitious product. Avoid contact with skin and eyes or inhalation of the product. Use rubber gloves and goggle. Keep away from children. Do not apply the product at room temperatures lower than 5 ºC and higher than 30 º C.

Empty packaging must be disposed of in compliance with the local legal norms.

Consumption

The yield of PREFIX FLEX is 1kg/m2 and per mm thickness. It depends on the substrate porosity and the size of the tiles.

Packaging

Is supplied in 25 kg bags, in grey and white colors.

Storage

PREFIX FLEX should be kept dry, protected from frost and direct sunlight, in its original unopened packaging. The product has a shelf life of 12 months from the date of production if kept in adequate conditions.
