Elastic watertight system for joints based on a Hypalon sheet and epoxy bond

Description

COPSA COMBIFLEX is a sealing system for irregular or high movement joints, consisting in PREPOXY ADHERENTE G2, based on an epoxy resin and chloro sulphonated
polyethylene COMBIFLEX SHEET.

PREPOXY ADHERENTE G2 provides a high adhesion to the sheet and a perfect anchor to the support, whereas COMBIFLEX SHEET allows for the free movement of the joint in all
directions, making it waterproof as well.

Application procedure

Preparation of the joint: The surface should be sound, clean, preferably dry and free from loose or badly adhered pieces. Priming is not required. If necessary, it will be done in
accordance to the substrate.

Preparation of the sheet: Prepare carefully the two sides of COMBIFLEX SHEET, removing the polyethylene film from one of its sides. Clean the surface using COPSA Cleaning Solvent.

Preparation of the bond: First, stir thoroughly each component in their original container. Mix the two components of PREPOXY ADHERENTE G2 with an electric mixer at low speed in a clean recipient until a homogeneous grey paste is obtained. The mixture of the two components marks the beginning of the pot life. Low ambient temperatures prolong its life, whereas high temperatures shorten it.

Application: Apply PREPOXY ADHERENTE G2 by spatula on both sides of the joint, at approximately 6 cm width and 3 mm thickness.

Place a stripe of adhesive paper, with the same width as the joint, along the central axis of the lamina. Then place COMBIFLEX SHEET over the joint, pressing hard so that the adhesive goes through the holes made along the edges of the sheet.

When COMBIFLEX SHEET stripes have to be joined, weld them using hot air.

Further, apply another coat of PREPOXY ADHERENTE G2 over the sheet, from its extremes to the adhesive paper. Finally, peel the adhesive paper, thus obtaining a well profiled
joint.

Precautions:

• It might be convenient to make a loop in the sheet towards the interior of the joint depending on the type of joint, its width and the expected movements.
  
• If negative pressure exists (from the exterior inwards) it will be necessary to provide some additional protection. This will be carried out through a metal sheet placed on the lamina. Please, consult our Technical Department.

COPSA COMBIFLEX system is suitable for sealing of irregular size joints or joints subject to big movements. It is also recommended for those cases which disallow the use of
conventional sealants:

• Supporting walls.
  
• Tunnels, sewage galleries.
  
• Foundations, basements and garages.
  
• Swimming pools, canals and water storages.
  
• Silos, containers, pools.
  
• Cover and roof joints.
  
• Steel tubes joints, cast-iron and concrete.
  
• Dilatation joints on buildings.

Special precautions

For specific safety precautions and first aid, please, read carefully the product label.

Before hardening the mixture can cause skin irritation. Use rubber gloves and goggles. In case of skin contact, wash thoroughly with water and soap.

Empty packaging should be disposed of according to the local legal environment regulations.

Consumption

The yield of PREPOXY ADHERENTE G2 is of 1 to 1.5 kg per linear metre of tape COMBIFLEX.

Packaging

COMBIFLEX SHEET is supplied in tapes of 10, 15, 20 and 25 cm width.

PREPOXY ADHERENTE G2 is supplied in packets of 1, 6 and 15 kg.

Storage

COMBIFLEX SHEET does not need special storage. However, extreme temperatures should be avoided. Its shelf life is 9 months.

PREPOXY ADHERENTE G2 can be stored for 12 months in a dry and fresh place, at temperatures between +5 and +25 ºC, in its original unopened packaging.
