Highly resistant mortar based on methyl methacrylate resin for fast floor repair

Description

COPSAFLOOR MMA MORTERO is a two-component mortar. Once mixed with quartz aggregates it is used for repairing floors of high mechanical and chemical resistance. The product allows a fast start-up even at temperatures below -20ºC.

Technical Data

• Min. application temperature:
  • 0 ºC (standard version).

  • Initial setting: 30 min.
  • Final setting: 1 - 3 h.
• Compressive strength: 750 kg/cm².
• Elasticity modulus: 68,000 kg/cm².
• Bond strenght: > 35 kg/cm² (concrete breaks).
  
• Coat thickness: up to 10 mm. For higher thickness, add 2 to 8 mm thick sand aggregates. Consult the Technical Dept.

Application procedure

Surface preparation: The application substrate should be highly resistant concrete. It must be totally dry, clean and free from dust, friable material, paints and curing liquids. The superficial texture should be open-poured. Therefore, a previous mechanical preparation of the substrate by abrasive blast cleaning or grinding is recommended.

Product application: Once the appropriate substrate is obtained, the first coat (COPSAFLOOR MMA IMPRIMACIÓN) is spread by a roller or a metal trowel, in order to seal the superficial porosity and enhance the adherence of the coating. Before this priming has totally polymerised, spread the silica sand aggregates to improve further the mortar adherence.

COPSAFLOOR MMA MORTERO is a ready to use product. The given ratios must be respected. Mixing time is approximately 2 minutes. Pour the whole amount of COPSAFLOOR MMA MORTERO (resin, hardener and sand aggregates) over the substrate and spread it by a metal trowel to obtain the desired texture of the finish. If necessary, apply a sealing COPSAFLOOR MMA TOP COAT by a roller or a rubber rake, to achieve an easy-to-clean finish.

In order to achieve a good curing indoors, the area of application should be well ventilated.

Tools cleaning: Tools and application equipment are washed with MMA COPSA solvent, immediately after their use. If the product hardens, it can be removed in a mechanical way only.

Special precautions

For special safety and first aid instructions, read the product label. The product can cause skin irritation, since it contains no polymers. Use rubber gloves and goggles. In case of skin contact, wash thoroughly with water and soap.

COPSAFLOOR MMA MORTERO emits a strong odor during its usage. This can affect the organoleptic characteristics of the food and adjacent material. Therefore, material susceptible to contamination has to be taken away from the site of the application. Adequate ventilation is necessary, to ensure the product hardening.

For work at temperatures below 0ºC, use the accelerated version.

Empty packaging must be disposed of according to the current local regulations.

Consumption

Recommended thickness: 5 to 10 mm. The consumption for these is approximately 10 to 20 kg /m² of COPSAFLOOR MMA MORTERO. For higher thickness, add sand aggregates of 2 to 8 mm. Yield in this case is 22 kg/m².

Packaging

COPSAFLOOR MMA MORTERO is supplied in two-component sets of 16.85 kg.

Storage

The components should be stored in their unopened original packaging, in dry places, protected from the sunlight, at temperatures between 15 and 30 ºC.

The product shelf life is 6 months from the date of production, provided it is well kept.
